?? on bluetooth and data

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t, but wanted clarification. Does using bluetooth to stream to car audio or portable speakers count as data usage on Verizon?

Along those lines. I have heard about the radiopup app to listen to radio on the iphone ipad etc. I assume that does use data. Any idea if it’s a lot, for an hour or two?

If it is just streaming from phone to other device, I’m %99 sure it doesn’t use any data. Data is from satellite to your phone.

That seems correct.
I don’t know how many Gb you would use streaming audio as I am grandfathered into unlimited data :D, but Verizon does give you a way to measure and control your alerts for data, dont know how fast they update though.

I think the iphone5 may use more data.

The Bluetooth connection from your smart phone to the car audio doesn’t use any cell network data. Bluetooth is a weak local area radio signal that ‘reads’ the music from your device and transmits the data stream itself to the receiving device in the car. This data stream doesn’t cost you anything. Bluetooth is also typically used for the wireless phone headsets some people walk around with stuck in their ear all day long.

The smartphone apps that let you stream music to your smartphone, iHeart radio, AOL music, Pandora, Aha, and the like use the cellular network to stream the music to your smartphone which you can then listen to on your smartphone or even stream it from your phone to your car if so equipped. This data stream costs you on your data plan.

The data that’s streamed via one of the music apps over the cell network can use a noticeable amount of data so if you do this you want to be careful to make sure you stay within plan. I stream iHeart for about 4-6 hours/week and use somewhere around 200-300M.
