My D has recently told me that her career counselor has told her she needs to wear neutrals for interviews. She has purchased a couple of nice Ann Taylor / J. Crew outfits including a cobalt wool skirt and a cream colored blouse. (I can’t remember what color jacket…)

She also has a cute dress that appears to be a solid skirt and print top that she can wear with a navy blazer.

She’s not looking toward banking or finance…but must one really wear blue/gray/tan solids?

Are there any good fashion blogs for what college seniors should wear for interviews? Please feel free to PM me if blogs violate the TOS.

Darn! I wish I remembered the saying I was told. Basically, it was saying not to look so put together or too professional…or perhaps it said something like don’t look for done up than te interviewer…Hmmm…

Anywho! Your daughter is NOT constricted to blue/grey/solids! Have her play with some prints and color schemes. Generally, I hear not to be too trendy, but colors are encouraged.

A few of my outfits were:
•Black slacks, white blazer, printed blouse, simple necklace, small earring along with neutral makeup; black heels
•black pencil skirt, black blazer, red shirt, simple necklace, small earrings along with warm makeup; black heels
•brown slacks, nude link blazer, cream top, simple necklace, small earrings and warm makeup; nude heels
•black pencil skirt, white button down, simple necklace, small earrings, neutral makeup; black heels
•dark wash boot cut jeans, olive shirt, black blazer, simple necklace, jewel earrings, warm makeup; brown heels

Look into her personal style and see how you can incorporate it into a more professional look. I personally don’t care for bright colors so I didn’t wear a lot of bright colors.

A black or grey pencil skirt or trousers with a black blazer with any color shirt underneath would be fine (my daughter has bought green, pink, grey, purple, and black shirts to wear for her interviews.) Just make sure that the shirt is business like (button down or simple sweater - not see through, too tight, or low necked).
