I was lucky enough to be called for an interview at an on campus cafeteria as a student worker. The person I spoke with already talked about filling out paperwork at the interview so I can get started the week classes began. Does this mean I pretty much have it? Also, how should I dress and what are some questions I may be asked? It’s at 9:15 A.M. on a Wednesday.

The main questions I had to answer for unskilled jobs were “when are you free” and “how many hours do you want to work?” Plus a bit of small talk. Never had an on-campus interview last more than 10 minutes.

If your position involves customer service (as opposed to food prep or cleaning dishes), they’ll pay more attention to your people skills. Nothing fancy. They can tell within a minute whether you are pleasant to interact with.

it’s not a skill demanding job. dress business casual. they’re not going to ask you about your plans 5 years down the road. they probably just want to make sure you are someone who’s presentable and won’t cause trouble.

Thanks! Now I’m sure it’ll go well.
