And that was with everyone on here saying in my “chance me” that I had no shot of getting in.
I don’t think so:
Congratulations on your acceptance to Cornell last year.
I looked at your chance-me and saw no one saying you have no shot. Instead, you were said to be a strong student or “average-excellent.” Some posters noted that admissions at these single-digit-acceptance-rate schools are lottery-like even for well-qualified applicants like you. That was a far cry from saying you have no shot.
In my few years of reading chance-me threads, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone making absolute, hurtful statements like this.
Literally not a single commenter predicted rejection. Everybody said that you were a qualified applicant and might get in, but also might not, and that we had no way to call it. 18 months later, you’re still “feeling some type of way” that nobody promised you an acceptance before it happened?
Congrats on your acceptance. I hope you’re happy with the experience you’re having at Cornell. Seems odd to me to dwell on what looks to me like kind, measured, and ultimately accurate feedback.
Are you sure you’re referring to your chance me thread here on CC, and not on Reddit or elsewhere?
Like others, I too don’t see any post saying you had no shot.
Not true - I just read it.
But even if it was, what’s your point?
You got in. It’s great. Congrats.
But I don’t see anyone who said you won’t. In fact, you questioned your ECs as being “fluff” and I noted they seemed strong.
If someone says, Great record, and you probably have as good a chance as any at most of these schools (make sure you’ve got target and safeties you’d love to attend).” or “You’ll certainly get into RPI and potentially Rochester and who knows on the rest.”, where is the person saying you won’t get in?
You’re there - so good for you. Hope it works out well.
Are you talking about Reddit? Or is it just Wednesday?![]()
