If you could only recommend one book to someone, what would it be?

Depends on the person.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower

My AP English teacher once told us a story of how he was good friends with an older couple, the wife of which was starting to lose vision and would eventually go blind. She asked the teacher what was the last book she should read before going blind and he suggested “Jayber Crow” by Wendell Berry. The woman apparently was glad that was the last book she read.

Oxford Anthology of English Literature

(also good for weight-training)

Wendell Berry is amazing. Also-- Wallace Stegnar " Angle of Repose".

Me recommendation would be The Magic Mountain by Mann
