My daughter is friends with a couple from Burma (Myanmar) who are staying at Vanderbilt through the Humphrey Institute. They are desperately looking for a safe, low priced place to stay in or near NYC for the month of May. I don’t quite understand why they booked their flight without having a firm destination, but they did. This couple is middle aged, well educated and very, very nice. I met them when I visited my daughter earlier this year. Any suggestions for a sublet or something?

craigslist, VRBO.com, airbnb.com

There’s a law in NYC starting in May banning sublets 30 days or less. Enforcement will be difficult but beware of this new law.

[New law will ban short-term subletting | The Real Deal | New York Real Estate News](http://therealdeal.com/newyork/articles/new-law-will-ban-short-term-subletting)

The should tap the Vanderbilt alumni association for help with this. It is the kind of thing that turns up in my alum association on-line newsletter all the time.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m passing them onto my daughter. Good to know about the law cbreeze. I had given daughter the airbnb one and she knew about Craigslist but VRBO had slipped my mind - thanks Rodney.

I really think this is something that the organization should have helped them more with. I think my daughter said they had about $1,000 for the month in housing, which as you all know, won’t really cut it in NYC.
