one-of-a-kind admissions process

<p>What are your thoughts on Bard College’s Immediate Decision Plan which gives applicants the option of hearing back a decision after just one day? i think it’s a very innovative way to look at the admissions process, since students get to visit bard in person (to ensure a proper match) and participate in a philosophical seminar through which they are evaluated by the adcom. this way, they can show adcoms, despite how they seem on paper, what they’re truly about and what they can contribute to the table if admitted. while i realize that this plan may not be the best option for certain applicants who are better off not showing themselves, i think that other LACs should nonetheless present this option for those who think it may help their case for admission. how come bard is the only one so far to adopt such an ingenious process (or have i just not heard of any similar ones already in existence?)</p>

<p>You know, it’s funny, but every time I have brought this up with kids, the response has been underwhelming. For some reason many kids find this immediate answer thing just too strange for them. Or maybe there is not enough of a buffer between the application submission and the response. I’ve had a difficult time selling Bard as a choice even though I think it is similar to Oberlin, Vassar, Swarthmore, Hampshire and like schools in many ways.</p>

<p>hey jamimom- can you tell me anything you know about bard and the ballpark stats i’d need to have a decent chance of getting in? i can’t find on the website the profile for the average admit but other than than, from what i’ve read so far about bard, it seems like a good fit.</p>
