This gives us a lot of insights. Georgetown is commendable for being so transparent. Given the fact that it is only elite school not using the Common App, it really shows its character.
Given the knowledge of different yield by various subgroups of admits, that presumably means that they can use that to more accurately estimate yield for each admit.
I only wish UChicago was this transparent.

@YogSothoth - under District of Columbia law, Georgetown must file a detailed plan every 10 years describing the planned infrastructure projects and development. Georgetown usually faces strong community concerns about any planned future expansion. The most recent 10 year plan was filed in 2010.

MIT is considered fairly elite!
I do not know how this shows charchter, I still have nightmares about having to put all my classes into the MIT form 2x (we have a lot of small seminars so it was a lot of classes) because it glitched the first time. My little sister was literally reading them off to me. They want to make themselves different, add a supplement. Why I have to retype my SS and my parents’ backgrounds more than once is beyond me.
Didn’t know about MIT not using common app. By not using common app, you are sacrificing the opportunity of attracting many more applicants to make you look more selective. Now only those who are quite serious about MIT and Georegtown would bother to fill out separate applications.
I realize but seriously having to list all my classes? Get a transcript. MITs application is quite long and involved
Some schools do this to avoid dealing with high school transcripts at the application stage. Basically, they distribute the work of converting transcripts into a standardized form (to recalculate GPA from and verify course work completed on) from their admission office onto each applicant for his/her own transcript (this might improve accuracy as well, since sometimes high schools have non-standard course names). At such schools, final transcripts are required of matriculants and are used to verify the self-reported courses and grades. However, MIT also requires transcripts on application.
Its fine unless you go to a school where you take 12 classes a year. It was 36 classes. Plus this year. TWICE because of their glitchy application
