ONE parent?

On applications (especially online ones), it forces you to fill in something about your second parent. What if you were only raised by one & have never seen your 2nd parent (in this case, father)? Do you just put n/a, or fill in the info. about him?

try to fill out as much as you can with info from your mom maybe
and then if they have one of those boxes where you explain anything tell them why you can’t fill everything out… and in the boxes that you couldn’t fill out write n/a? i dunno… you kno what call admissions. they know stuff.

You must fill out whatever you can ablout your absentee parent, you can even put on the form that you have no idea where he is (if this is true)

In addition, you should should also start working on obtaining a parental waiver for financial aid purposes. The colleges which you are applying to will want the waiver before they award you any financial aid. In addition to what ever form the schools are looking asking you to fill out, your guidance counselor will need provide you with a letter stating that s/he has known you for X number of years and ever since they have known you your father has not been in the picture and it has just been you and your mother.

All the best

where do you get one of these parental waivers?

Check the financial aid section of the schools which you are applying to as they will tell you about the need for a parental waiverespecially if the school offers need based financial aid. Give your guidance counselor a heads up that you will need a parental waiver letter (they do them all of the time so it is no big deal). It will save you a lot of time and headaches).

If they are not there, the financial aid office at the schools which you are applying will send the form for you to return (take it as a good sign because only accepted packages make it to the FA office).
