Writing:
(In contrast to) the friendly and playful image (promoted by) movies and marine amusement parks, a killer whale is a ferocious creature, (as any) marine biologist who has seen (them feed) in the wild can attest. (No error)

Is it A because of in contrast with or D?

Math:

It’s a picture of a rectangle, and the diagonal of the rectangle is called RV, and then there’s line segment SU that goes diagonally through the middle of the rectangle

\
\
-------_______________

that diagonal line is much more angled. The line is SU, and where it meets the diagonal of the rectangle (which goes from top-left corner to bottom right) the intersection is point T.

THe combined area of the two triangles RST and UTV is 12, and the line SU divides the sides into 2:1 (so the part on the left is half that segment on the right). What is the area of the whole reactangle?

The writing question would be D. A single killer whale is being referred to, so the use of ‘them’ is inappropriate.
I’m sorry, but I can’t decipher that math diagram.

In the picture in my SAT book, the triangles look congruent. Their areas add up to 12.

Also, one more quick writing question
With the (proliferation of) online journals and blogs, the distinction between professional journalists (and) ordinary people (has become) more (nebulous) than ever. (No error)

I’m between E or C, because I’m thinking the “more nebulous than ever” means it should be “is becoming.”

I’m not sure that the diagram is drawn correctly. Look at the two line segments with length x. These could only be congruent if SU was perpendicular to the sides of the rectangle, which does not appear to be the case.

I do not see any obvious mistake in that sentence, though I am not that great at the English parts of the SAT.

I’m going to assume that the x and 2x should be switched at the bottom of the picture.
Note that T must be the center of the rectangle since the diagonal goes through the center and SU must go through the center since it divides the rectangle into two congruent quadrilaterals. Two non-coincident lines can only share one point, so the center is their intersection.
Since T is the center, both of the triangles must be congruent by SAS and so the area of either of the triangles is 6. Both of the triangles have a base of length x and height of length h/2 where h is the vertical length of the rectangle. Using the formula for area of a triangle, A=6=(1/2)x(h/2)->hx/4=6->hx=24. The rectangle has horizontal length 3x so its area is 3xh which is 72.
Please check my work, i could have made a mistake!
