Online Acredited Homeschooling

So I know Homeschooling gives you a big disadvantage when It comes to college admissions. But is that just for parents who do lessons with their kids and then take the SAT? So, I want to do an online program next year called alpha omega acdemy and it’s accredited and you take classes, get graded, and it works on a credit system just like High school. I plan on applying ED to dartmouth. Would doing this program hinder my chances of getting as opposed to if I went to a normal high school? Thanks!

I think you need to do a little more research on homeschooling. You can start with the homeschool forum on this site. Plenty of homeschoolers, my son included, don’t take accredited programs and get into good colleges with scholarships. With the exception of public institutions that admit based on class rank such as UT, we didn’t encounter any problems. To get into Dartmouth, you’re going to need great academics whether homeschooling, doing an online program, or regular high school and great extra-curriculars. The “type” of high school you go to isn’t going to be the deciding factor.
