There are few official sources for the online version of the ACT. I will link them in this post. You can improve your test taking skills by reviewing this link.
The key changes:
- The test will have fewer questions.
- More time to answer questions.
- Science will be optional.
- No more FGHJ answer options, hurrah.
- 4 answer options in Math, instead of 5.
- Questions are called Items, instead of being numbered.
- The highlighting tool is very helpful for focusing on key words in questions.
What is staying the same?
- The content is pretty much the same as the paper version of the test. So if you want to practice, I still recommend getting the red ACT study guide, as suggested on ACT’s website. The 25-26 study guide is available in May.
There is currently one official online test for the US version, but the international version is useful for practicing with the tools and content. There are also extra questions available online, but it is nothing like the online format, other than that you are clicking on answers. They simply provide more practice material.

The online test seems primitive compared to SAT, but perhaps it will be improved by September, when online will be the only option.
