Online AP English Language and Composition

I’m going to be a junior next year at a small private school, one that offers many — but not all — AP classes. I am currently enrolled in AP US History and AP Statistics in the traditional classroom setting, but I’d also like to take AP English Language and Composition because of my interests, future intentions, and to set me up for AP English Literature and Composition, which my school offers to seniors.

I have explored a variety of options for exam preparation, and am extremely interested in two yearlong, online courses offered by affiliates of highly-regarded universities:

Northwestern University’s CTD - http://www.ctd.northwestern.edu/program/advanced-placement-ap
Johns Hopkins University’s CTY - http://cty.jhu.edu/ctyonline/courses/advanced_placement/ap_english_language.html

Have you had experience with either of these courses and/or programs, do you know of any other options for someone interested in an AP course not offered at their school, or do you have any advice for me as I embark on this unique experience next month? Thank you.

Is AP Lang not offered at your school? From my experience, I took AP Macroeconomics online my sophomore year and it was not pretty. I actually spent more time getting a good grade in that class than my other classes. It was time-consuming also. Have you tried looking into APEX, though I don’t vouch taking AP classes online. Do your school offer other alternatives such as taking AP classes at nearby schools or offering free online courses regarding english and related english electives? I assume you have to pay for the programs you mentioned above?

CTY AP courses are rigorous. Your effort is also important.
Some colleges may not accept online courses though.
