online application

Do you submit the essay and those forms online if you use the online application? How about teachers’ recommandations?

Generally, the on-line application only covers the student’s essays (excluding a handwritten essay some schools might require) and items to be provided by third-parties (again, excluding a parent’s statement that might be submitted for some on-line applications). Teacher recommendations are typically sent directly to the boarding schools. Some schools ask that all the recommendations as well as the transcript be sent in a single envelope from the school. (Even if they don’t ask that, I think that’s a good idea because there will be a person at your school who will see to it that all the recommendations are prepared and submitted on time.)

Anyone applying for PA?
Did you receive an e-mail contains the information about My Andover after submitting the candidate statement? Is candidate statement the only part of the application can submit online?

Again…what do the instructions tell you? They are generally more reliable than the opinions available here. If there’s some ambiguity, we’ll be happy to help you resolve it if you explain it. But first things first: what are the instructions telling you about these things?

Here is the instruction:
How do I get a My Andover Account?
Once you submit the Candidate Statement, the first part of the application, you will receive an e-mail with your account information.
I already submit the Candidate Statement but haven’t receive the account information.

As I recall, they send the information both by e-mail and by regular mail. And they wait for receipt of your application fee as well – which is payable with the Candidate Statement. My son was non-plussed after the tour, so he never went beyond the Candidate Statement and I can’t recall what gets submitted electronically. But I do recall that Andover seemed to be the most efficient and electronically-oriented admissions departments that we dealt with. Still, every admissions office required one thing or another to be mailed in, even if it’s only the teacher recommendations and transcripts.

Candidate statement is the only part that you can submit online in the PA’s admission process.
