Online Apps vs Traditional Mail In Apps

Just beginning the app process for EA/ED. Which process is better? Why?

I asked this question last week when we had a meeting with my son’s college counselor. Without answering directly, she told us an anecdote. She was in a gathering with some people involved in reviewing college applications and a lot complained about having to read through all the mail-in apps. Needless to say, they preferred the convenience of online. She said it was best not to **** off the people involved in screening so she implied online would be preferable.

Most colleges state that online is preferred.

the biggest reason some people preferred to mail in apps in recent years was because the common app was too restrictive and didn’t allow enough supplements to be included. They’ve changed that now and you can upload an EC resume, for example. so that reason isn’t a concern any more. online is definitely better. And even if you do send it in by mail, many colleges will scan it and review it on a screen. For that situation they’ll be reviewing a better, cleaner copy if you send it electronically than if you send it by mail.
