D is a junior accounting major. She just accepted a summer internship at a CPA firm. Most summer interns at this firm get offers for permanent employment at the end of their summer internship. The expectation is that she will be close to being eligible to sit for the CPA exams soon after permanent hire (if that happens). Right now she’s on a trajectory which will have her well short of the required 150 credit hours. Her plan is to take one additional course per semester for the remaining semesters and to take online courses during winter and summer breaks. An advisor recommended online courses at TSU as they are flexible and not too expensive.
Does anyone have any other suggestions to make? (We know that pushing to take classes, any classes, just to get the 150 hours is not the best way to prepare for the CPA and doesn’t compare to getting a master in acct to get the hours.)
