I’m trying to get a masters in Data Engineering and for jobs in Staff Engineering. I actually know most of the material, and the things I don’t I just use free resources.
Yet, as you know, Masters polishes a resume and gives more leverage in compensation. I would love to be paid more. So I feel like getting a masters could be one possibility.
Is there a 1 -2 year Masters you recommend that is worth its weight (so many bootcamps that look shady that don’t look legit), and I would love to look into the recommendations CC community recommends.
What do you mean by “staff engineering”? I’ve never heard of that specific specialty. Are you talking about being a staff engineer, or is this something different?
Either way, you’ll likely want to look at master’s degrees in data science, as data engineering is just a subspecialty of that. There are lots of places to do this these days: Northwestern’s School of Professional Studies (they have a data engineering track), Indiana (they have a domain area of intelligent systems engineering, which may or may not be similar to data engineering), Harvard Extension School, and Georgia Tech’s online Master of Science in Analytics are some of the places to start looking.
