Online patio furniture

H and I want to gift one of our kids a patio sitting area set for her yard. We want something that is comfortable and that won’t break the bank. Went to Home Depot yesterday and they didn’t have much. The only couch set was super uncomfortable with thin cushions. This made us realize ordering online for more selection is risky as you can’t tell quality by the pictures. We have a nice patio furstore but they won’t have anything in our price range. We want to spend under $1200. Has anyone ordered patio furniture online. Would love brands to avoid and ones that are decent.
Thanks

Have you checked Costco? If they don’t like the gifted set, it can be taken back to the store. We shopped for patio set at our local store and were impressed with the quality, but we decided that a dining height firetable set fit our needs better than a couch set. We did buy a couple of patio chairs and a glider bench from Costco last year and are happy with the quality. So much sturdier than what HD had in their stock.
Here is one set that has great reviews:

My big advice - stay away from plastic and resin wicker. Cleaning those and keeping them in top shape is a PITA. Aluminum frames clean so much better.

Our patio dining set is by Hanamint. It was not inexpensive (because it is large and has a firetable), but the quality is outstanding. Mr. B had no trouble assembling the whole set in a couple of hours. We got it at a local place called Summer House.

Another idea: you can give them a firepit if they don’t have one. Then they can then buy inexperienced patio chairs at Costco to sit around it (this is what we have on our upper deck). The sales person gave us this advice about firepits: the lower ones are better because they heat the entire bodies and not just shoulders and chests.

I recently ordered this set online from Home Depot for our small side courtyard:

To bump up your gift, you might consider ordering a fire pit table. We got one similar to this from Wayfair: https://www.wayfair.com/outdoor/pdp/az-patio-heaters-steel-propane-fire-pit-table-pza1277.html

Another vote for the Costco sets if they are still available. Most everyone I’ve seen has been of what appears to be very good quality. If you don’t have a membership it will still pay to get one for a year for the price and quality!

OP, did you want leisure seating furniture or dining furniture too??

Our (metal-frame) deck furniture is from Costco, and other than tightening a few screws from time to time, it’s been quite good.

Seating furniture is what we are thinking. I must have missed the Costco set that @BunsenBurner linked when I was looking. We would prefer ordering from Costco as we have been happy with most items we have bought from them. I sent that link to my H along with the Home Depot link from @lilmom. It’s his idea. I was going to just take her clothes shopping for her birthday but he wants to get her patio furniture. She has done a lot for us this year and he wants to get her something she will use for a long time.

I must add my usual caveat…since this is a surprise are you quite sure that your D wants patio furniture and if she prefers a certain material, color, seating option, etc.??? It’s a wonderful gift for sure but myself I would be VERY particular about a set that I’m likely to use for several years!

@abasket we know she wants patio furniture. She has been searching for used pieces on Craigslist and at yard sales. We would give her a picture of the set and make sure it’s what she wants before ordering.
