I’ve used Costco to upload photos to have hardcover books made, and I like the results.

Now I have paper files of researched family geneology, and a series written letters that I’d like to have bound into hard cover books for our family. This would involve pages of mostly print, not photos. I have a scanner, and can store the images as either JPEGs or PDF files on a portable hard drive.

Is there an online company you have used to do this kind of printing? Or is there some other method I should consider?

Assume that I am nearly computer illiterate.

Staples or office store like OfficeDepot should be able to do something along this line. Staples currently have 30% off any copy/print job. Check out the print/copy section on their website.

I did this for my book. I used lulu.com. You can upload PDF files and they will print the book for you, and offer it for sale for others. A relative of mine uploaded PDF files generated by her genealogy program and ‘published’ her book that way. In my case, I generated pages using photoshop and uploaded each page as a PDF file, and lulu printed them in the order I specified. I was able to print two page spreads this way. Good luck!

I’ll second lulu.com. My father wrote several stories about growing up during the depression while taking a writing class. I loaded them all into a pdf file, added photos, designed the cover, and we have beautiful 200-page hardcover books for all the relatives.
