Online Quizzes - I Am Hooked

For whatever reason, Facebook and my FB friends have had a lot of quiz links to click on lately. And I just dive into 'em all. They take only a minute or so… so far in the past couple of weeks I have been identified as Captain America, Wyoming, a Great Dane, a writer, Pink Floyd, Tina Turner, and Mycroft Holmes. It is much more fun than Myers-Briggs testing. Anyone else getting insight through this same process?

Actually, I feel exactly the opposite. I don’t like them at all, I don’t care if my FB friends should live in Minnesota or Hawaii, and from what I’ve heard, these quizzes are on FB for the sole purpose of grabbing your private data. I ignore these silly things.

The one quiz I do enjoy is the weekly news quiz on Slate, written by Ken Jennings, the Jeopardy winner.

Ah, well, glad you are a little more highbrow than the rest of us… The quizzes are generally linking to outside sites like Buzzfeed – can’t imagine they are getting much from the types of questions they are asking. Haven’t seen any ad feeds that seem to match the questions so far, either.

intparent, I didn’t mean to come across as “highbrow” or condescending.

Intparent, I think they are fun, too, although I am so old that I miss some of the cultural references.

Some are kind of interesting, but mostly they are ridiculous. Do I really care which sandwich I am? I think that they are just another way to try to gauge our interests for advertisers.

gasps I’m Tina Turner, too!

My friends and I love the Buzzfeed quizzes. My group message has them at least has three times a week.

I liked the where should you live one-- I got New Jersey! And apparently Pongo is my Disney spirit animal, which made me happy because Pongo is my favorite.

I mostly ignore these quizzes, there are tons of zimbio quizzes on my feed lately, too, and they are mostly referencing TV shows I don’t watch or aren’t very good… like the disney spirit animal. :stuck_out_tongue: But they can be fun!

I’m Wyoming too! This morning I found out that the '50’s is my decade and my southern character is Scarlet O-Hara - lol

I would like to love these quizzes, but they keep asking questions where either I know NONE of the things they’re asking me to choose between, or I just don’t care (which Beyonce are you), or the questions are really, really, transparent (the Downton Abbey quiz). Maybe if we could skip some questions they’d be more fun.

Maybe I just don’t like that they chose Ronald Reagan as the president I would be!

Well, I do have that problem sometimes. Usually I at least know what one or two of the choices are on these (have heard of them…) so choose on that basis. I must say, I think I am most proud of my Mycroft Holmes label. And I suspect it is the most accurate…

I am a Mycroft too! I was secretly pleased with that one. Not so thrilled with my Pug character. And I’ve done the state one twice and gotten Minnesota both times. I do like the north woods.

Not to brag, but I’m Hermione. ;-)

Well, I’m not sure if I am happy about that- I’m Neville Longbottom. I wanted to be Snape. Sigh!

I like many of them, but also don’t get some of the pop culture references. I was shocked to get Alaska and Great Dane. I needed more choices of fast food restaurants, I guess.

Oh- and I would be in the “jocks” group if I went back to high school!

Just getting them on FB from one friend.

I was New Hampshire. And Lady Mary from Downton.

I am Vermont and am Lady Sybil. These are not FB quizzes. If Buzzfeed wants to collect that someone at my IP information likes honey and lemon in tea, they are welcome to it. Not sure what they’d do with it.

Hawaii. Seems fitting. I’m a tropical woman.

Can’t seem to remember the other ones I got. Although, I’m certain the quizzes are not the quizzes older folk would take! :stuck_out_tongue:

I take very few of them, although I did just find out I was supposed to be Vice President…or an engineer (which ironically I find similar in many ways to accounting, sigh). Often I don’t know any of the choices so probably not so useful  I know nothing on tv show or movies.

I kind of miss the old fb when friends actually posted things they are doing instead of posters of sayings, quizzes and political commentary. I still like their family pictures though. My friends have gone through the evolution of kids pics, then their dog pics and now they are all on 1st and 2nd grandbaby pics.
