online SAT/ACT prep recommendations?

I’ve looked at the SAT Prep board, but I believe that coming to my fellow parents on this board will probably help the most. Can anyone recommend, on their own family’s experience, an online SAT or ACT prep service?

We want one where the kid can prioritize areas of weakness to work on, as opposed to being marched through a soup-to-nuts curriculum. That is one of the advantages of online programming, in this situation. The areas of weakness are being identified through non-prepped tests (both ACT and SAT). The will then prepare to re-test in the one that seems to be the strongest prospect, and wants to prioritize and target the preparation. This is an average student, of average intelligence, who is not realistically going to turn heaven and earth to master the test, but will probably put in a limited, semi-distracted amount of time and effort, working around a full-time summer job and some other obligations.

Not sure why you thought that the Parents forum would yield better responses, but that is another story.

You will need to identify your needs further as an online prep might be different from an online TUTOR. There exist good programs such as Dabral’s SatQuantum or Karl’s eprep, and other more expensive venues.

My take is that there is enough material available that any reasonably motivated student could score close to his natural ability with a modicum of effort and expense.
