Online science course for home-schooled senior?

A friend’s daughter is wrestling with her senior year schedule. She needs a fourth year of science, and may need to find a course outside of the high school. Could anyone recommend an online science course designed for home-schooled students? The daughter was planning on taking physiology or honors chemistry. She took AP Calc AB last year, and is not going to be pursuing a science field in college.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I’m not familiar with online courses, but is it possible for her to take a science course at a local CC?

That’s one possibility, but it’s not clear yet if the community college option will work.

Distance learning through the University of Washington. I have taken astronomy, oceanography, geology, and weather. All well done and including labs.

It might be too late to register for a class at a CC at this point.

Has she looked into EPGY?

My son took the AP physics C Mechanics and E&M classes his senior year when schedule conflicts messed up his class schedule. He took the AP mechanics test in the spring and scored a 4 without studying. The course material is well-presented and very complete. He matriculated to Stanford the next year and decided to retake Mechanics rather than take the AP credit. He cruised through it to an easy A, tutoring several people in his dorm, some of whom had taken AP physics in high school. In retrospect he should have taken the credit instead, but it sure was a confidence booster.

Some ideas -

University of Indiana High School allows students to taken both high school and college level classes (for credit).

Thanks for the suggestions. The student’s schedule ended up working out, so she’ll be able to take her science class in-school.

I teach chemistry for The Potters School where both of my homeschooled daughters took classes for all their years in MS and HS. It is a great resource for homeschoolers IMO.
