It just seems like no one talks about Northwestern University…
I applied RD and am waiting for the decisions which are soon going to be available!
It says by March 31st which would mean no later than, I guess?

Is NU your reach?
Your major? ( or/and minor? )

People on this very forum are talking pretty actively about Northwestern… but, Northwestern isn’t really my reach - I think I have a decent shot at getting in, but it’s certainly nothing for sure. And I’m thinking about a political science or an English major.

I don’t know. Just seems like people talk about the rivalry between U Chicago and NU.
I am also thinking about majoring in political science.
NU is my reach with UMich. The univs are so unpredictable sometimes.
Are you in state, oos or international ?

I really hope NU would release their decisions before the Ivies do.

NU is probably a high match/low reach for me.
The major I put on my app is MMSS, with mathematics being the joint major.
I’m an international applicant.

I think people were talking about U Chicago recently because I gather that they released some decisions earlier than NU. Plus I assume there’s some rivalry since they’re near neighbors (though U Chicago isn’t in the same ballpark as NU for D’s major).

NU was D’s first choice – and she’s thrilled to think that it will be her alma mater!

I have been checking the Northwestern board quite frequently hoping for some info about the release date, and have also been wondering about the lack of activity on the message board compared to other schools. I am pretty sure the last three years NU has released decisions this week, so I am hopeful that decisions will come out either this Thursday or Friday. Also, I’m thinking of doing an Econ major, and think my credentials are a pretty good match for NU, although after being waitlisted from Washu im a little nervous…

In case you’re worried, Northwestern doesn’t give any preference to in-state students, so you’re out of state status won’t decrease your chances.

But anyway, NU’s a reach for me (unfortunately). Applying to McCormick for environmental engineering. Trying to minor in French? Not sure if I would have enough time in engineering though.

I’m oos and I applied into performance studies in SoC. I’d say NU is a high match/low reach for me, but hopefully my performance related ECs will help me get in. Good Luck everyone!

Good luck, kingcyn. If you make it, you’ll join my S as an ISPer. I think this year’s class of 31 ISPers had 3 international students (from China, South Korea and the UK) along with 14 from Illinois (I credit this last part due to a lack of active advertizing by ISP so IL students would be more aware earlier, even though I know ISP sends an invite to many NU applicants who express interest in majoring in a science or engineering.)

I never got a text message from Stanford! Just a disappointing email I think that Northwestern is a match for me academically, but I think it is a reach for most people admission-wise, just because the process is so subjective.

I recently was accepted to Northeastern in Boston to the honors program with a pretty nice scholarship. If I get into Northwestern, it will be a hard decision. I like Northwestern’s prestige, but I love Northeastern’s location (because I’ve lived in Northern Illinois my entire life).

I still hope I get in though, and good luck to everyone!

@Godot00 well said. NU may be a match for someone academically, but i would never say that anyone is an admissions match. There are no admissions matches at top 20 schools. It’s like March Madness, its full of upsets.
