My school, a private prep academy, only allows you to take the AP Test if you took the AP course in the school…

you guys know more schools that do this?

i wonder what the reasoning behind this is…

I know that a friend’s son had to fight the school system to get permission to take tests that he did not take the class for. Their reason was that students probably wouldn’t do well and they didn’t want their numbers to be affected. To their chagrin he took 4 or 5 of these “extra” tests and scored 5s on all!

The school restricts AP exam signups because they want their average scores to be high and they don’t want to look bad. This is precisely why my high school instituted a policy limiting students to 4 AP classes. I self-studied for and took a 5th AP exam, and got 5’s on all five of them.

you don’t have to at my school because any schmo can take APs here but it is highly recommended

they just want kids to take the exams at myu school they dont care how many u take
