Only got one acceptance from a college...

I was only accepted to 1 of 14 colleges I applied to. I know that most colleges announce freshman application decisions on April at the latest. I would like what my options are besides going to a CC. I know that some colleges have “rolling admissions” but it seems like the rolling admission applications were due at least a month ago. I noticed that Purdue is offering summer start term. My question is how does summer start term work? and are there any colleges that will take application on April?

First, congrats on not getting shut out. I hope the one acceptance is from a college that you would enjoy attending.

Every spring, a list of “colleges still accepting applications” comes out. I’m sure someone will post a link here when it’s up. Good luck!

This shows some late deadlines and there is a list that comes out in May http://www.collegesimply.com/guides/application-deadlines/
Take a look at this link below to see the schools that were still looking for students in May last year. The list is NACAC and I believe it comes out after May 1st. Last year in May, more than 250 four-year colleges and universities still had space available for qualified freshman and/or transfer students.

There are several good colleges and universities still taking applications: New College of Florida, Hendrix College, Clemson University, University of Central Florida for a start. Then check the NACAC list when it comes out - there will be surprisingly good universities and colleges which did not meet their matriculation goals.

Thank you so much everyone!

I’m noticing that many schools in MN are still trying to get students to apply. Enrollents are down at many schools because of a decline in population. Get online and find out if schools are taking applications. You are at the point where you could probably fill out applications in your sleep. It would take you no time at all to send off a few.

Go to the college that accepted you? For some reason, you don’t seem to have listed that as an option…

The unniversity of Pittsburgh is a really good school and is still taking applications.

The question that hasn’t been asked is why aren’t you going to the school that accepted you. If you won’t go there, I’m curious what made you apply.

Also University of Iowa I think? and what is wrong with the college you got into?

Is the college that accepted you unaffordable? You can apply to schools with rolling admissions, but I don’t know how much financial aid those schools offer. Or you could take a gap year and apply to a new list. Don’t take classes during that year, though, because some colleges will consider you a transfer. Freshmen generally have more opportunities to get financial aid.

What are your stats, @lonism2222, and how much can your parents afford to pay per year? Did you get any aid at the school that accepted you?

If you take a gap year, be sure to apply next year ONLY to schools you’d be happy to attend!

Can you tell us what your stats and your budget are?
Why won’t you go to the college that accepted you?
Some excellent colleges still accept applications: Knox, Hendrix…

Everyone at my sons school applied the the state school because they were told to use it as a backup. Not necessary wanting to go there but I guess it was a safety… Everyone that applied got in with a FULL ride. Some it was the only school they were accepted to, so now they have to go there. But I tell my kids, it what you make of it, and you will be surprised how many kids I know that did that and absolutely love it there and wouldnt transfer out second year… It Rutgers University, for some people that is their first choice and a great school…

Try Iowa, Iowa State and Arizona State.
