And you thought the U2 home intrusion was bad? How about bricking a couple of your phones? But, please, do not get bend out of shape over this. The new Six Plus will do that for you! Look at the bright side, Apple Boys, we beat Samsung in the race to the new curved smartphone.

Busdriver, here is the explanation in a nutshell - do not get iPhone 6 until the bugs have been sorted out, and more/better cases are available. :)

@busdriver11 – I may be wrong about this but I thought the problem was with the iOS update released and since recalled. The update resulted in users being unable to make phone calls, a primary function of the phone! I purchased a new Verizon 6 on Friday and have not encountered any issues, but I didn’t attempt to update. I tend to wait a while on the updates as bugs seem common.

I was shocked that I was able to pair the phone with my car on the first try, but I assume that can be attributed to my car manufacturer and not Apple.

I think the battery is draining a bit faster than my old 4S or 4G (whatever the three year old model was named).

Re: the phone case. I bought the $35 silicone case at the Apple store when I purchased the phone. It fits tightly and is comfortable in my hand, so no complaints.

I saw the examples of phones that were bent from being kept in back pockets- both software and hardware (literally, or a lack thereof) problems. So- people spend a lot of money for this then need to spend more so normal care doesn’t ruin it???

Re: backing up & transferring data. I will admit that the whole ‘back it up and then surrender the wiped phone for $$ credit toward new purchase’ was a bit disconcerting, but it worked.

It is hard to hold it in one hand and type at the same time, which I used to be able to do with other iphones. I am always afraid I am going to drop it. I didn’t upgrade to 8.01

We upgraded our 5s phones to iOS 8.0. No problems. It was the iOS 8.0.1 bug fix to 8.0 that caused the brick problems. We never got the bug fix update notice so never installed 8.0.1. Whew, dodged that bullet.

Of course kids rarely use the phones to call anyone, but I would not dismiss this deficiency so quickly and lightly. What if an emergency arises, and the phone owner discovers that s/he cannot make the 911 call that is so desperately needed? Would you laugh if this happened to your loved one? Apple fumbled big time here!
