oops. college mistakenly sends acceptance emails

Bummer for those who got the acceptance email, then the apology email a few hours later. http://kutv.com/news/offbeat/university-mistakenly-sends-5000-students-acceptance-emails-04-18-2016-010111779

So, it happens again!!!

The timing seems off for something like this. Is this old news even though the article date is current?

I checked their website and they say the first round of decisions come in early March and then rolling basis afterwards.
so I guess it’s possible.

First round of UB admission decisions and merit scholarship offers mailed (rolling basis thereafter). UB also begins mailing first round of invitations to the Daniel Acker Scholars Program[/quote[

Oh! Found the press release on their website:

http://www.buffalo.edu/news/releases/2016/04/039.html

wow! I didn’t know schools informed so late, let alone STILL reviewing applications. Sounds like they have more issues than just the erroneous emails. Don’t most schools wrap up notifications by early April and commitments by May 1st?

@doschicos - I would imagine most do, but they also do rolling admissions after a date.

And I have heard people on this board recommend some schools that accept way later (kids who suddenly need some other option).

I googled and found this article that lists a bunch (even as late as August 1st!): http://time.com/money/3652370/best-colleges-late-application-deadline/

There is one every year.

Both Buffalo and Binghamton have significant “outstanding” app pools.
