Has anyone ever heard of someone getting into unc chapill hill with ACT-28?
Class rank8/250
Avg-95
Is it possible for me? My sat and act are a lot worse than my gpa, class rank, and volunteer service.

You say you’re from New York? What part, Long Island? You can message me.

I have had friends from all over the island get in with like a 3.74-3.85 GPA overall (94-98) and 2100-2240 SAT (1360-1480). I believe a 28 ACT is a 1250. Try retaking the ACT and SATs once more and submit the highest ones and write amazing entrance essays (start writing them now and revise them at least three times).

From the above, I cannot judge as to whether you’re a match/ slight reach/ reach/ big reach for UNC. I need to see the whole picture to base my decision.

As an out-of-state student, especially from a highly populated area such as NY, you need to raise your ACT quite a bit from a 28. It is true that UNC looks at subjective aspects of your application (essays, activities, recommendations, etc.) more than other public universities do, but strong test scores and GPA are still needed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. I was accepted this year from out-of-state and will be attending.
