OOS Prospective Engineering Student

I’m actually applying as a dual degree to Engineering and SMTD (Sound Engineering) but I figure the latter will be based heavily on the strength of my portfolio so it would be rather pointless to ask for chances on that.

As for Engineering, I kind of thought that I’d have a very good shot of getting in but all I seem to be hearing these days is about how tough admissions are on OOS applicants and I’m getting a little worried.

4.0 UW GPA (Will likely be valedictorian, but my school doesn’t weight, so anybody who graduates with a 4.0 and the highest honors diploma is a “valedictorian” so it probably doesn’t mean much)

All honors/AP courses

2140 SAT (760 CR, 710 M, 670 WR)
No ACT

Extracurriculars (not spectacular…I spent a LOT of time on tennis throughout each year):
Varsity tennis (4 years, Most Improved Award 2010, Team Captain 2011, #1 singles 2011)
National Honors Society
Remedial Math tutor at a local middle school
FBLA/DECA (4th place district spring 2011)
Advanced Concert Band (only 2 years)
Jazz Band Guitarist (only 2 years)
Volunteer Guitarist for First Christian Church
German Quiz Bowl

Minority (Indian)
Fairly well-off family, definitely not getting any need-based aid

Man, just reading through that EC list is a bit painful. Thing is, I committed myself fully to tennis over these 4 years and spent about 2 hours practicing/working out nearly every day each offseason. So there wasn’t a whole lot of time for anything else. Not sure if that will hurt me.

Well at least you have something strong in ur ECs, or at least something you put a lot of time into.

If you really took all APs and Honors and only got all As for 4 years, then I would have a hard time not admitting you.

Also I don’t think Indian is considered a minority at Michigan
