<p>I got rejected from Berkeley, my first choice :(. Is it because I’m from out of state? I live in New York City. My grades are almost a 3.4, 31 ACT and I have a lot of extras. From the school I come from if you have anything about a 3.6 you’re looking IVY. What happened?</p>
<p>The average GPA for admitted students is 4.2. Your GPA seems to be a little bit low.</p>
<p>The UC system was built to serve the California population and is partially funded by Californian tax payers; hence, the system gives preference to students of California and rejects more students from out of state.</p>
<p>We’re OOS applicants, it’s a lot tougher because the UC system has to serve CA taxpayers first. Also I think they don’t really know about the OOS HSes because they don’t get a school profile (but I could be wrong) so that probably hurt you.</p>
