One of my friends (an international student) is seeking to start graduate school
in the US this fall to obtain his master’s degree. His education is being funded by the Saudi gov’t so financial aid isn’t an issue. He is looking for a graduate program that has open admission policy. Does anyone know of any? All replies will be greatly appreciated :)

Um, why open admissions policy? Wouldn’t he want to apply for the best programs?

Heck, if the Saudi government will pay for his graduate school, everything, then he should mention that in his application somewhere and I’m sure it’ll increase his chances of being admitted in a competitive program. Then programs will admit him on the basis of his merit, not his financial need (more money for other students).

Open admissions b/c his GPA was 2.4 and he didn’t really excel “academically”. It’s not that he’s not capable of doing well, I just think he probably wasn’t too motivated.

He also wants to start -=this fall=-. He recently was rejected by the only grad program he applied to, so he needs to find something immediately or his scholarship will be revoked. :(

If he’s in one of the right fields, Harvard Extension is close to open admissions. You have to take three classes in the degree program (and you can just register for these, without having to go through an admissions process), and if you do reasonably well in them, you are automatically into the master’s program.
