I will be attending Brown, and I’m curious: how do law schools consider the open curriculum/lack of an official GPA of an undergraduate school? I’ve heard that students should show that they’ve taken rigorous courses on their transcript and that law schools look favorably upon calculus classes, etc. Also, I’ve heard that law schools prefer your extracurricular activities and jobs to be diverse – that sole focus on law firm or related internships can help you decide whether you want to attend law school but might actually detract from your application if you appear too single-minded.

This all seems very vague to me, and maybe there aren’t any clear answers (I know there certainly isn’t one “right” path to law school), but I would really appreciate your comments. I’m not set on law school, but I’m just doing a little research. Thanks for your time.
