Open House

Is anyone going to the open house this Saturday? I don’t really find it important, since I will have to see the school on the placement test day and orientation.
I got an email saying this:
Dear Student,

On behalf of the Office for Diversity and Academic Success in the Sciences (ODASIS), it is my pleasure to congratulate you on your child’s acceptance to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey! It is an exciting time both for you and your child, and I would like to take the time to introduce you to ODASIS.

ODASIS is an academic support unit within the Division of Life Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences; the goal of ODASIS is to increase the academic success of undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics professions. Through a unique and rigorous academic support program that includes supplemental instruction, enrichment opportunities, and individualized academic advising and mentoring, ODASIS intends to promote student retention in the sciences, improve the percentage of students entering health professional graduate programs, and create a highly qualified set of students who are better enabled to take on leadership roles within the workforce and in their communities.

For over 20 years, ODASIS has created an intensive, structured, and enjoyable learning environment for its participants; nearly 800 students have graduated from the ODASIS program and have gone on to pursue careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing, biomedical engineering, research physician assisting, and others.

We look forward to accommodating your child in our program, and would like to invite you and your child to the Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey—ODASIS Open House. The Open House will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.

imho, going to this ODASIS thing is more important than summer orientation. My son did not go to summer orientation and it was not a problem at all.

On your placement test day, you will probably be in Scott Hall all day with a break for lunch.
