Opening up business

I’m an accounting graduate.
Say you opened up a business working for a year or two and it failed, would you put that in your resume? The business has nothing to do with accounting - more like a restaurant.
What would employers think? What about the 1-2 year gap?
Would opening up a business make you less marketable in the future (especially in accounting)?

Thanks

I would put in your resume, definitely. It shows you have experience in management and are willing to make risks. Opening up a business is a big undertaking, even if it fails. Experience with failure can be just as good as experience with success.

I would also understand why you’re business failed. If I were interviewing you for a job, that would be one of my first questions. I would want to know how you learned from the experience and how that might make you a better candidate for the position.
