Opinion: Has anyone withdrawn from a course early on, regret it or not?

So, if anyone hasn’t seen my previous post, basically what happened is I withdrew from a course that I found overwhelming. The thing was though it was based off of one homework grade and another homework I thought I was struggling on, and I didn’t even make it to the first midterm and had other things. Somehow I kind of regret it weeks down the line because I’m stuck with these other required upper division courses that I hate, even including an elective that I thought was going to be interesting (luckily I’m taking it Pass/Fail). I’ll obviously have to stick it out with the other courses, but I just want to hear opinions if anyone has withdrawn so early in the semester from taking on too much commitments?

Sure. I dropped a class because I was taking 18 hours, it was the easiest to replace in a future semester (Gen Ed) and reducing the workload from that class would help me keep a high GPA. That was 1989, Yes, I still regret not gutting it out at some level but it’s a blip. And by regret, I mean a post like this or some reminder.

You make the best decision you can and you live with it. Life is about how you respond. Will you push through the next time your challenged? If so, you learned a valuable lesson.

Best wishes.

Although, the one I withdrew from was a core class, reputed to be the hardest in my major. It was crazy when I took it the first time, there were times when I wanted to give up. My one regret was that it was the last time the current professor was teaching this class (I had them before and loved them as an instructor) and that I wasn’t able to get over this hurdle the first time. Plus, as I said above, I didn’t even make it to the first midterm and I’m worried I’ll fail the second time, but only time will tell what happens.

My daughter was in your situation. My advice to her is that second guessing and regrets are not worth the energy. You made a decesion based on the facts you had. That is the best anybody can do. Just learn from it and move on. What else can you so?
