Opinion Question! Should I assume that I have been accepted

Ok, After emailing an admissions guy about whether or not i got into the school as a transfer here is what he said back

“After our first run through applications I think things look pretty good. We will begin to make decisions next week and decisions will begin to be mailed in early March. At this time, I’m encouraged with how your application stacks up against others in the process.”

My mentality is that the admissions person just i’snt allowed to tell me anything before its officially decided, but based on that, should I just assume (like 85%) that I got in?

what school is that ???

I will say 99%, congratulations …

I would say you are now looking at 70/30.

Geneseo!!!

you mean SUNY ???

yea im at stony brook now, and not liking it to much

Yeah, you have a good shot. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment though.

Haha, a month ago the admissions guy told me I seemed like a strong applicant and from then until today I would refuse to believe that I had a chance because of the let down, but now I just said what the hell, it seems likely, I may as well have confidence now

i like how he’s teasing you. i’d say u have a good chance :)

Lol i know, I just think he isnt allowed to tell me until its like stamped and definate

He could just be the type that likes to laugh about how he got peoples hopes up and then let them down. Kinda sick but hey you got to get your kicks somehow.

That would be messed up… So what I have been generally been hearing is like 75/25 that im in… I wish it was more =/

wait…you can email the admissions and ask for your chances?

Definitely more likely than not. While it could be code for “you’re in,” he may just not feel like writing a personalized rejection. No matter what it’s for, those aren’t fun to write.
