Opinions needed, please.

Hello,

I am currently a student at Pasco-Hernando Community College, and even though I’m not applying to USF anytime soon, I wanted to get some opinions. I went to a 4-year university for two years, and did horribly. I skipped class all the time, never did my homework, didn’t show up for exams, etc. As a result, my grades from that university are two F’s, two D’s, eight C’s, four B’s, one A, and three withdraws (I don’t know if it makes a difference what classes those were, so in an effort to make this post a bit shorter I excluded the courses.) When I quit school after my first two years, my GPA was 2.0. Ughh.

Anyways, I took three years off from school to work and figure out what I’m doing. I enrolled at PHCC this summer. During the summer semester, I took four classes and got three A’s and one B. I am in school right now and am taking four classes again. I currently have all A’s. I have three more semesters at PHCC. My question is… assuming I continue to get mostly A’s and maybe a few B’s, is there any chance that I’ll get into USF? I’m so worried that they’re going to take one look at the transcript from my 1st college and deny me based on those horrible grades. I’m doing my best at PHCC, but it’s frustrating working my butt off at school when there’s a chance that no 4-year university will take me. Thoughts please? Thanks =)

PHCC is a feeder school to USF. The academic advisors at PHCC know USF admission guidelines inside out. I think the best advice I can give you is to sit down with a PHCC advisor and put together a game plan to gain admission to USF. Make sure what you are studying at PHCC and the coursework you do match up with the upper division pre-requisite requirements at USF to get in an upper division major. Good luck!
