Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests?
I am a person who sets high goals for myself and does not fear challenging obstacles. Muhammad Ali once said “He who is not courageous will accomplish nothing in life.” This is a quote that motivates me through tough challenges. This is why the University of Michigan is my number one choice on my college list. It is a prestigious university that will offer a challenge to me, and will better prepare me for the future. Also, the University of Michigan contains the major in which I would like to study, biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience. This university contains a large, well-built, convenient campus which includes great athletic programs with academically excellent students.
I chose the University of Michigan as the school I wanted to attend when I was little because of the athletics. As I grew older, I realized that you can’t go to a college in which you only love their sports. I began to research more on this school, and realized that many famous people such as Gerald Ford have come out of this school. I looked at these people and saw that they were successful, and that was what I wanted to be.
The atmosphere and campus, is one of the biggest factors that attract me here. The campus is located in Ann Arbor which is not far from my home, which makes it convenient for me to visit my family without huge cost. Also, compared to other prestigious universities, the University of Michigan offers lower in-state tuition prices that make a great education affordable. The students that go here are typically intelligent, and I feel that enrolling here will better influence me academically and socially. The campus is set up so that I don’t have to leave the campus in order to get my needs.
As I grow up, I hear about cases in which people are diagnosed with a disease that cannot be cured, and have to rely and treatment in order to live. This is something that I would like to solve, and in order to do that, I have to be able to take risks and accept challenges. I believe that the University of Michigan’s college of literature, science, and the arts, will better help me to get to this point in the future. Sanjay Gupta is a neurosurgeon who graduated from this school. I believe if he can get to that point, so can I if I put in the effort to exceed my goals.
Coming to Michigan will allow me to reach my ultimate goal, to become a neurologist. It has a convenient location in which I will be able to easily access anything I need. Becoming a part of the atmosphere will allow me to sing “the victors” while cheering on Michigan athletics. To become a wolverine will increase my chances of being able to change the way people live and to benefit lives.
