Hi! I was seeing some resumes and “candidate profiles” from some people (who live in the US)and the clubs and even some competitions and community service opportunities are totally different than the ones I have acess to. For example my school onlyhas 2 clubs (Theatre and anime) and they have some activities and I participate in all of them but it’s a lot less than in American schools. Are AOs aware of that?
There is always a revealing bias. Students who post have better profiles than those who don’t. Also, the availability of activities varies across the US as well. AO’s have been doing this for a long time and definitely have an idea as a team.
Yes, AOs know that different schools - both in and out of the US - offer different ECs and that some offer none. They also know that any 14 year old’s access to ECs will be highly dependent on parents’ ability to pay, provide transportation, etc.
Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to develop your resume this way. Instead, focus on what excites you at the schools you’re applying to.
One of the reasons many kids go to BS is that it’s the best way for them to access these opportunities.
Yes, that’s exactly the reason why I want to attend a boarding school! Thanks.
