So I just went on the Penn website and realized that an optional recommendation letter should have a specific heading (my name, birthdate, high school, Common App ID)…

I applied early decision and didn’t know this…so I didn’t tell the person who’s writing my optional letter to write this heading.

Do you think Penn Admissions will discard my letter or will they figure it out?

If your recommender sent it in through the common app then you’re probably fine because it prompts them to fill out that information.

If your recomender sent it in through mail, well then it may be delayed. The only reason why they tell you to have those header things is so that the mail room can identify who is being recommended and match that.
