Order of Interviews Significant?

I just saw a new topic in the Princeton forums.

Could an alumni interview give light on the order candidates are interviewed in?
I’m fairly sure it is not based alphabetically or by application submit date.

I read the Princeton thread. Pathetic reasoning, even more pathetic neurotic state of paranoia.

Forget about it…

Lol I agree… but still.

How ARE they selected?

It would be nice if you could play along with the placebo and say only the best are interviewed really early. I was interviewed early :O

Read my stickied thread RD Applicants: Interview Advice. It explains (numerous times) who gets interviewed in detail. Look for my posts and T26’s in the thread.

It really depends.

I have a sneaking suspicion my Quakerville interview was worth a bit more weight than advertised.

But my other interviews were probably standard fare.

Although I didn’t get one at all for Princeton or Harvard, and I feel like there has to be some alumni in the area.

Oh well. College isn’t for everyone.

Forget about it…there are only several days left…

well can any of u explain what happened to me…i am an international and about 30 ppl applied from my country…and there is one interviewer who did all the interviews,he does so for the last ten years,he is the pres.of the yale club etc…the thing is that i was the last to be interviewed and i know that bc he told me so and bc more or less i know most of the ppl who applies(10 of them are from my school) He contacted us the same day, monday, and he setted interviwes starting wednesday and it went on for almost 2 weeeks…I was the last who he saw and i am not the one with the last name in alph. order whether latin or my country’s.How do u see this?Admissions addict i wud love ur insight since i have not been able to find an answer on your thread…Thank u very much for the help!!!
By the way, the interview went really well but the guy that was before me was not very qualified and the very first ppl he saw were very good.

1991: try not to place ANY energy in trying to figure it out. The interviewer knows NOTHING about you so I’d say 98% likely that his order of meeting you was just coincidence.

This year, I conducted 12 interviews – the most I’ve ever done in a year. Of the 8 RD applicants, I contacted those who lived farther first – just in case we needed more flexibility. The others all live within a 10 minute drive from me. In the listings, I get to see when Yale rec’d the completed application. Besides the faraway ones, I called those first who finished their apps first – just because.

I didn’t strategically order them besides what was practical. Since we have no info on the student beforehand anyways, you see why this is the operating method.

In summation: we don’t pre-select or pre-sort you. It’s random.

This isn’t an area to investigate further to soothe yourselves. Good luck however.

T26E4 thank you!!!
AA do u confirm that interviewers dont get a ranked list of those that they are supposed t interview! This is a great thing to know bc i was gettin really anxious.

1991: I can tell you that there’s no “ranking” or pre-sorting because the contact information is sent to the area coordinators almost immediately. This tells me that besides confirming that the file is complete, NO ONE has read anything yet – there’s no time (or reason) to do that. Admissions would like everyone to be interviewed but none is essential. Why spend manpower to do that? Relax if you can

you are right.thank u
