Oregon universities try ‘instant admissions’

“P[ortland]SU admissions counselors are visiting high schools to look at students’ transcripts and college entrance exam scores to see if they meet admissions requirements, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported. Students who meet those benchmarks are “instantly” accepted to PSU.” …

Aggressive recruitment in search of enrollments.

A girl I know was accepted on the spot to Siena College after she interviewed there. Maybe not quite the same, but this girl is now attending Siena. Perhaps a sample size of one is a bit small though:-)

Winston Salem state does this at my school, but then again, it’s not a competitive school

In theory, any selective college which has automatic-by-stats admission (or scholarship) criteria for at least a portion of its admission class could do this.

Of course, non-selective colleges like community colleges can admit instantly after the student fills in the basic information the college needs.

My HS has been doing this with various local schools for about 3 years now. S17 applied to one school on site and was accepted pending a portfolio review for his major. The schools involved are not highly selective but my son is in the range for them. He would have done a second but it doesn’t do onsite for arts applicants.
