Orientation, & Placements

So, there’s a bio placement on orientation day and during fall welcome weekend. But since we can’t take bio our first quarter anyways, could we just delay the placement (and have more study time) and take it during the welcome weekend instead?

So, for those who unsatisfy the UC Wirting Exma thing and have not taken it on May 12, do we HAVE to take it during welcome weekend? I’d rather take the “Unsatisfied wirting class” than pay $65 to not pass.

Anyone going to orienation on the 12th? Anyone on the 10th who can let me in on what’s improtant? :]

I am confused about this as well. We cannot take biology until we are done with Chem 1B. I am hopefully taking chem1A fall quarter, chem 1b winter quarter, and bio and chem 1c spring quarter. Why do i need to take the bio placement exam now? Can’t I wait until end of winter quarter to take it?

I think they want you to take it as early as possible because then you can get it out of the way. In case you didn’t pass the first time, you can have more chances taking it later in the year. Also the test score is only valid for one year.

I’m going to orientation on 17th, and I’m gonna have a *****ty schedule. I just know it. Damn.

I’m not going to orientation which means the schedule has me by the balls…

What’s this about no Bio? I dunno what the **** is going on! There are like a gajillion Bio courses…

We just take the placement to get it out of the way, and to determine if bio3: concepts in bio, is needed or not in the winter. (Since bio3 is only offered in the winter, and say you take it after, and you place into bio3, you delay your bio classes a year.) A lot of people belive taking bio 3 is a “waste of time” but the prep of that class for 20A doesn’t hurt. Plus, the placement asked very very very general questions. So no crazy in-depth prep is really needed.

sweetness. thanks everyone!
