I know that it is best to do orientation ASAP, but I can not figure out how it works.

According to this, there are two parts: AO and CalSO. I can not figure out what AO is despite my Googling and FAQ efforts, except that I must do it on May 1 or later.

As for CalSO, I am still a bit confused. While I would like to go ASAP, my school events make the earliest possible date the 15th of June, somewhere around the middle. I plan to major in Physics, so the courses are unlikely to be too impacted, but I want to be sure I get the classes I need. Is it necessary to go to CalSO, or can you complete orientation online? How dangerous is it to go towards the middle?
