How is this session different from number 1-7? because in the BU orientation website when there are specific details about an orientation it is always for 1-7 only.

And would it be a huge problem if i can only arrive at the night on the first day of orientation? (this year’s session 8 is from AUG 26th-29th, but i can only be there at the night of 26th)

Thank you!

I think the only difference is that you can’t participate in FYSOP

So far as arriving on the evening of the August 26th for orientation…if you will be moving into your residence that day, there are moving-in hours that terminate around 4 p.m.

(Students who attend the final orientation stay in their own dorm room, whereas students who attend earlier orientations stay elsewhere).

If you are talking about attendance at orientation activities, there is nothing you are required to attend until Thursday morning.

You might want to contact the orientation office to inquire about how things would be handled if you arrive after the end of the official moving-in hours on Wed the 26th.

yeah, call the Orientation office. It mostly differs in that it’s not as regulated. There will still be activities, but since the Orientation staff can’t really control you once you’re in your own dorm etc, nothing’s really mandatory except you just have to get classes scheduled at some point. They’ll be able to give you more detail in the office though.

Thank you very much everyone! Helps me a lot!
I also called them and they said that 26th is an optional day, so it is not a problem at all if I cannot go
the only problem is the move in hour, maybe I have to stay at a nearby hotel.

thanks again!

What time do the activities usually go till on the Thursday night of orientation? On their site it only says evening but it gives no time.

usually midnight. the student advisors do a skit and then there’s some hang out time in the GSU. not sure if it’s the same for session 8 though.

thanks. sounds cool.

DS attended orientation 8 when he enrolled at BU in 2003. It had the same activities and presentations as all the other orientations. The only difference was that the students stayed in their own rooms instead of in one place. BUT they met each morning and went through the same “stuff” as the other orientations.

sounds fun! im excited :] summer went by fast!
