Orientation?

<p>When is it generally? what is it?</p>

<p>i’ve heard different things about at the College honor day. One person said it would make no difference which orientation date you went to. Another person said to try to go to the earliest one to ensure that you get the classes you want. Which one is right? </p>

<p>During the summer. A Rep. called yesterday to ask me questions about my acceptance and the processes that I need to take next. She said orientation is during the summer and it is 3 days long (you live on campus in campus housing) and costs around $400. I don’t think it really matters which one you attend. Then again, we haven’t gotten our packets yet with all that info in them (supposed to be getting them in a few weeks)</p>

yes, it does matter. very much so. you register for your fall classes during orientation, so it’s in your best interest to goto the earliest one that you can make it to. if you get one of the last ones, all of the “popular” classes are going to be full and you’ll be stuck with the leftovers.</p>

<p>depends on your major what the “popular” classes are, but the big one i can think of is English Comp 3 if you didnt pass out of the Writing I requirement. for science majors, classes like LS1, Chem 14A, Chem 20A, Math 3A, Math 31A fill up quickly. by registering earlier, you can pick the best lecture and discussion for the “ideal” schedule. (like getting an afternoon lecture instead of an 8am lecture, etc.)</p>

<p>last year UCLA had our AP scores before like right before orientation 101. not sure how this year will go. i went to orientation 103, which was still OK in terms of class choices.</p>

<p>This is not fair! They get everything mailed, including a nicer acceptance package. But at least we didn’t get stuck with crappy rooms. :rolleyes: :p</p>

<p>Technically, AP scores should be received by mid-July (they’ve been pretty accurate). However, it will show up sooner on your My UCLA page, perhaps early July (since CollegeBoard offers scores via phone on the 1st).</p>

<p>Actually, last year, it was available as soon as June 29. Sure beats paying a ton of money to get scores early via phone.</p>
