a week seems like a looong time for orientation…what exactly will we be doing? is it basically a lot of partying and hanging out in the city?

yes. partying and hanging out. it's fun.

you'll be kept busy enough, don't worry. there's a pretty packed schedule for you, your floormates, and your parents (for the first day). You'll learn about the various departments and offices of the college, get to know your peers (lots of small group discussions), and get to mingle with the Columbia kids. It's very fun but tiring and gets old towards the end of the week. But the upside is... TONS OF FREE FOOD! :D
