Orlando tops list of most dangerous spring break cities

<p>"Orlando ranks No. 1 in the country when it comes to the most-dangerous spring break destination, according to a new study.</p>

<p>An analysis conducted by Avvo, which offers free ratings and profiles for lawyers and doctors, found that the sunny Florida tourist attraction is followed by other hot spots such as Daytona Beach, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, West Palm Beach and South Padre Island.</p>

<p>Orlando is home to several famous resorts and theme parks, such as Disney World, Universal Studios and Wet’n Wild.</p>

<p>In compiling the list, Avvo evaluated 25 popular domestic spring break destinations based on a number of factors, including violent crime risk, overall crime rank as put together by the FBI, murder statistics and fatal car crashes.</p>

<p>Rounding out the top 10 are New Orleans, Panama City, Fla., Jacksonville and Miami…"</p>

<p>I used to live in the area (not in Orlando but a satellite city called Sanford) and I can tell you, there is a touristy part of Orlando, and there is a residential part of Orlando. All this ranking does is take data applied mostly to the residential part, and try to use it to say that it is unsafe for tourists. It’s very misleading. The data is just plain old data used to rank the safeness of all cities, expect the list removes all of those cities which aren’t considered spring break destinations.</p>
