Ornithology

I applied to Cornell mostly because of the ornithology lab…I just looove birds lol.
Does that work in my favor at all for being admitted? I wrote the main common app essay about bird banding and my Cornell supplemental about the lab (in part). I also do a bird banding program during summers, and am a decent applicant otherwise. Will they care? I’m so nervous…any help is appreciated!

Which college and major did you apply to? It definitely will work to your advantage to express an interest in ornithology. Obviously I’m not going for animal science, but I wrote about how I would utilize Cornell’s specific programs if I were accepted, and I got in ED. They love to see you did your research, and in light of Project Feederwatch (my mom does it) and other famous programs associated with Cornell birdwatching, you definitely picked a great topic to write about. Good luck!

Thanks! I applied to Arts and Sciences and put Environmental Science (or is it studies?) as my prospective major.
Actually I wouldn’t be that great at Project Feederwatch–I’m colorblind so I’m really bad at IDing the birds…but they don’t know that!

Hey, I’m interested in birds too! That’s why I applied ED to Cornell (and got accepted, by the way  I do a banding thing during summer too…and wrote about it in one of my essays. I consider myself a decent applicant…not the best in the world…so I’m sure YOU’LL get in  Actually, RD’s just found out today, right? Did you get in?
