There are some great suggestions here. I want to post a warning about Danskos, though. I don’t have problems with my feet and pretty much wear anything, and go barefoot as much as possible. My most frequently worn shoes are plain black flip-flops, like from the drugstore. I like them because they have straps across rather than a plug between the toes.

With that background, I once bought a pair of Dansko clogs. They were horrible. Wearing them made my knees and hips hurt, and my knees and hips don’t normally hurt. I ended up giving them away to a teenage girl down the street who wears the same size, and she was thrilled. So it turned out fine, but if you are considering Danskos, make sure they don’t throw your whole body into misalignment.

I bought the most beautiful pair of Naot sandals a few years ago, kind of a refined fisherman’s style. They were incredibly comfortable. Somehow they got lost. I’d like to buy another pair of Naots, but I don’t like most of their styles.

The Orthaheel and the SuperFeet flip-flops look very, very similar, especially the way the arch support is moved towards the heel more than in “normal” shoes. I think it’s the location of the arch support that works so well for me.

Orhtaheel also makes insoles. I can’t tell but it looks like they are using a little less molded support than the SuperFeet. In any case, it’s pretty easy to find a store that has demos of the SuperFeet. Places like Eastern Mountain Sports (hiking stuff) in the mall and running stores have the demo displays. Makes it easy to find out if it works for a particular shoe.

Well, I figured that I should report back to all you helpful folks here but I’m afraid you might think I’m a nut. Please be gentle, OK?

After much online searching and researching the brands suggested I was more confused.
I vacillated from leather low heel slip ons (Taos) to Ecco flats at the Walking Company at a local mall, to dansko (kappy style).

So after all this, I decided on a pair of basic Merrell hiking shoes (chameleon waterproof). Hopefully, they will be supportive and comfortable and will work fine with my very relaxed after work attire of jeans and such.

Much more casual than I first intended…guess my aching feet are hoping for some relief and don’t care about fashion so much!

Thanks again for posting, everyone, and I’ll let you know how they work out.

Dansko clogs - and oddly only that brand - helped cure my plantar fasciitis. There is a reason they are so popular in hospitals and restaurant kitchens.

They make a number of lines and some are more clog-like than others.

One way to buy is their online outlet with the incredibly odd name: danksooutlet.com. Don’t know how they came up with that.

PackMom, glad to hear you love your Merrell Siren Sports.
I bought the Women’s Merrell Chameleon Arc 2 Waterproof …hopefully it
is the cousin of yours and I’ll be happy also!
I think but not sure that mine has the silly elastic lace thingy instead of actual laces.
My mind is at some place that that one item seemed a must have to me.Go figure.

They did all start to look the same after a short while :).
